🌸 Celebrating an Incredible Milestone: 20 Blooming Years! 🌸

This September, we’re proud to celebrate a truly special milestone at Chatswood Central: 20 years of beautiful bouquets and heartfelt service from our much-loved florist - Chatswood Hills Florist!

From humble beginnings to becoming a go-to destination within our Centre and the wider Logan community, this family-run florist has brought beauty, comfort, and joy to countless lives, in moments of celebration, remembrance, and everything in between.

At the heart of it all is Kristy, a businesswoman with a dream, a tireless work ethic, and an undeniable love for her craft.

We asked Kristy a few questions to reflect on her journey… here’s what she shared:

🌿 Can you take us back to the beginning – what inspired you to open a florist at the centre?

“I’d dreamed of being a florist since I was 13 years old. My ultimate goal was always to own my own florist shop. I saved every cent I could and eventually found a run-down little store.

In those first few months, I remember thinking, What have I gotten myself into? It took a lot of blood, sweat, and plenty of tears, but I kept going.

What made it all feel worth it was the atmosphere at the centre. It felt like a country town, where everyone knew each other - and still does. The community was (and still is) like family, and that support meant everything in those early days.

Now, here I am, 20 years later, after three shop moves, still doing what I love at Chatswood Hills. It’s been a wild ride, but I wouldn’t change a thing.”

💐 "What’s your favourite part of running a florist shop?"

“Well… probably that I’m the boss! Haha — only joking.

Honestly, I love that no two days are ever the same. One minute I’m creating something beautiful, the next I’m helping a customer through a really emotional moment. It keeps things interesting and meaningful.

I’m also incredibly lucky to run the business with my family. My Aunt Janelle is my business partner - she handles the paperwork side, which lets me focus fully on my strength: the flowers. My mum Sue works with me too - she’s our everything-lady, always keeping things running smoothly. My dad Gary brings all my wild ideas to life; if I dream it, he builds it.

And then there’s Jo - not only a wonderful florist, but also a close friend. Her creativity and skill shine through in everything she does. We also have Liz, who takes care of our deliveries and helps keep everything moving.

So, I guess the best part is that I’m surrounded by amazing people every day, doing what I love. I really do have the best of all worlds.”

🌼 "Have you had any standout customers or events that you’ll never forget?"

“Honestly, I think every customer is a standout. Whether someone comes in for a single flower or a large-scale floral installation, we treat them all the same.

Every order has a story behind it - a celebration, a memory, a message, and it means something to us to be trusted with that. That’s what makes this job so special.”

💛 "How has the local community supported you and your business over the years?"

“The support from the Logan community has been incredible - honestly, it’s hard to put into words. We’ve had so much love over the years, we really can’t pinpoint just one moment.

Through shop moves, centre construction, tough times like COVID, and all the ups and downs that come with running a small business, the community has always stood by us. Their loyalty, word-of-mouth recommendations, and genuine kindness have helped us grow and kept us going.

We truly feel part of something special here, and we’re so grateful to be surrounded by such a supportive, down-to-earth group of people.”

🌷 "Do you have any signature arrangements or bestsellers that customers love?"

“We’re really known for offering flowers for everyone. I’ve always believed that flowers from a florist should be accessible, not just for special occasions or big budgets, but for anyone who wants to brighten someone’s day (or their own!).

So whether it’s a simple bunch or a custom-designed arrangement, we have something for every style and every budget. That’s something our customers really love and appreciate, and it’s something we’re proud of.”

🌟 "What’s next for your business? Any plans or goals for the future?"

“We’re always looking for ways to grow and improve, while staying true to what makes us special - that personal touch and love for flowers.

Of course, continuing to serve our amazing community here at Chatswood Hills is at the heart of everything we do. We want to keep being that friendly, welcoming place where everyone feels at home.”
